Bishkek Health University has received the Classification for Community Engagement from the Eurasian Association of Universities — one of only five health sciences universities in Central Asia to receive this honor.

The classification is awarded to institutions that demonstrate a robust commitment to community-engaged teaching, learning and research. BHU's application highlighted more than 30 active community partnerships, including free health screening programs in rural Chuy and Issyk-Kul oblasts, medical volunteer brigades and collaborative research with the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health.

"This recognition affirms what our students, faculty and staff have always known: that genuine impact on the health of our communities is the highest measure of our success," said BHU Rector Abdyrakhmanov Kylych Abdyrakhmanovych.

BHU's service-learning programs require students at every level to engage directly with underserved communities as part of their academic curriculum. Over the past academic year, BHU students logged more than 48,000 hours of community service across Kyrgyzstan.

The classification will be formally presented at the Eurasian Association of Universities annual conference in Almaty next month, where BHU faculty will also present research on the outcomes of their community health intervention programs.
