A six-member team of Bishkek Health University students claimed first, second and third place at this year's National Medical Olympiad, defeating competitors from 18 universities across Kyrgyzstan and earning recognition from the Ministry of Education and Science.

The Olympiad, held annually in Bishkek, tests students on clinical reasoning, anatomy, pharmacology, medical ethics and patient communication. BHU students competed in teams and individual categories across five disciplines.

Team captain Aizat Mamytova, a fourth-year student in the Clinical Medicine program, said the win reflects the depth of training BHU students receive.

"Our professors push us to understand the why behind every clinical decision — not just to memorize information, but to think like clinicians. I think that is what made the difference in the competition," Mamytova said.

BHU Rector Abdyrakhmanov congratulated the students at a ceremony held on campus, announcing that each member of the winning team would receive a merit scholarship for the upcoming academic year.

The full results of the National Medical Olympiad have been submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science and will be published in the official university gazette.
